In January 2021 we recognised that times were tough. We know that there are a body of people fighting hard in our corner right now. For the NHS Covid staff at Hastingsand Pembury hospitals we began running a food amnesty scheme whereby locals can donate sealed goodies left over from Christmas into a blue bin provided at the fridge site. Goodies were collected and sent on to our worthy heroes at the Covid wards.
The scheme became so popular that we extended to units at Maidstone, the Hawkhurst Cottage hospital, both doctors surgeries and the pharmacy.
